Stewart W. Philips was born in Springfield, Ohio on July 4, 1889. Originally sentenced to Life Imprisonment his sentence was reduced to 28 years, 6 months. He escaped from prison in 1923 and was captured and returned to prison in 1929. His sentenced was remitted in 1938.
